Last week, my four-year-old daughter, Sally, was invited to a children's party. I decided to take her by train. Sally was very excited because she had never travelled on a train before. 上周,我4岁的女儿萨莉被邀请去参加一个儿童聚会。我决定带她乘火车去。萨莉非常激动,因为她从未乘过火车。

语法知识点

1. who/which引导的定语从句

定语从句在句中作定语,修饰一个名词或代词,被修饰的名词或代词叫先行词。定语从句通常放在先行词之后,由关系代词who, whom, whose, which, that引导。

who引导的定语从句:修饰人,在从句中作主语或宾语

The man who is standing there is my father. 站在那里的那个男人是我爸爸。(who在从句中作主语)
The girl who you met yesterday is my sister. 你昨天遇到的那个女孩是我妹妹。(who在从句中作宾语,可以省略)

which引导的定语从句:修饰物,在从句中作主语或宾语

The book which is on the desk is mine. 桌子上的那本书是我的。(which在从句中作主语)
The pen which I bought yesterday is red. 我昨天买的那支钢笔是红色的。(which在从句中作宾语,可以省略)

that引导的定语从句:既可以修饰人也可以修饰物,在从句中作主语或宾语,作宾语时可以省略

The man that/whom you saw just now is my teacher. 你刚才看到的那个人是我的老师。(修饰人,作宾语)
The film that/which we saw last night was very interesting. 我们昨晚看的那部电影非常有趣。(修饰物,作宾语)

2. 现在分词作定语

现在分词(动词-ing形式)可以作定语,修饰名词,表示正在进行的动作或主动的关系。

单个现在分词作定语:通常放在被修饰的名词之前

a sleeping baby 一个正在睡觉的婴儿
a running dog 一只正在跑的狗
a dancing girl 一个正在跳舞的女孩
the rising sun 正在升起的太阳

现在分词短语作定语:通常放在被修饰的名词之后,相当于一个定语从句

The girl dancing in the room is my sister. = The girl who is dancing in the room is my sister. 在房间里跳舞的那个女孩是我妹妹。
The man standing under the tree is our teacher. = The man who is standing under the tree is our teacher. 站在树下的那个男人是我们的老师。
The house being built is our new school. = The house which is being built is our new school. 正在建造的那所房子是我们的新学校。

现在分词作定语与过去分词作定语的区别:

a surprising result 一个令人惊讶的结果(表示主动或正在进行)
a surprised look 一个惊讶的表情(表示被动或已经完成)
an interesting book 一本有趣的书(表示主动)
an interested student 一个感兴趣的学生(表示被动)

3. 祈使句的直接引语转间接引语

当直接引语是祈使句时,变为间接引语通常用"ask/tell/order sb (not) to do sth"的结构。

肯定祈使句:tell/ask sb to do sth

直接引语:"Sit down, please." said the teacher. 老师说:"请坐下。"
间接引语:The teacher told me to sit down. 老师叫我坐下。
直接引语:"Open the window, please." she said to me. 她对我说:"请打开窗户。"
间接引语:She asked me to open the window. 她让我打开窗户。

否定祈使句:tell/ask sb not to do sth

直接引语:"Don't make a noise." he said to the children. 他对孩子们说:"不要吵闹。"
间接引语:He told the children not to make a noise. 他叫孩子们不要吵闹。
直接引语:"Don't be late again." the teacher said to Tom. 老师对汤姆说:"不要再迟到了。"
间接引语:The teacher asked Tom not to be late again. 老师让汤姆不要再迟到了。

表示请求的祈使句:常用ask sb to do sth

直接引语:"Could you help me, please?" she said. 她说:"请你帮帮我好吗?"
间接引语:She asked me to help her. 她请我帮帮她。
直接引语:"Would you please pass me the salt?" he said to me. 他对我说:"请把盐递给我好吗?"
间接引语:He asked me to pass him the salt. 他请我把盐递给他。

4. 委婉请求表达

在英语中,为了表示礼貌,常用一些委婉的方式提出请求,而不是直接使用祈使句。

表达 含义 语气 例句
Could you ...? 你能……吗? 非常礼貌 Could you tell me the time? 你能告诉我时间吗?
Would you ...? 请你……好吗? 非常礼貌 Would you help me carry this box? 请你帮我搬这个箱子好吗?
Can you ...? 你能……吗? 比较礼貌 Can you pass me the pen? 你能把笔递给我吗?
I wonder if you could ...? 我想知道你是否能……? 最礼貌 I wonder if you could lend me some money. 不知道你能不能借我点钱。
Would you mind ...? 你介意……吗? 礼貌 Would you mind opening the window? 你介意打开窗户吗?

回答委婉请求:

- Would you mind closing the door? 你介意关上门吗?
- Not at all. / Of course not. 一点也不介意。

5. 被动语态总结

被动语态表示主语是动作的承受者,结构是"be + 过去分词",可以用于各种时态。

时态 被动结构 例句
一般现在时 am/is/are + 过去分词 English is spoken in many countries. 许多国家说英语。
一般过去时 was/were + 过去分词 The house was built last year. 这所房子是去年建的。
现在进行时 am/is/are + being + 过去分词 The road is being repaired now. 这条路现在正在修。
过去进行时 was/were + being + 过去分词 The house was being built this time last year. 去年这个时候这所房子正在建造中。
现在完成时 have/has + been + 过去分词 The work has been finished. 工作已经完成了。
过去完成时 had + been + 过去分词 The work had been finished before he arrived. 他到达之前工作已经完成了。
一般将来时 will + be + 过去分词 The meeting will be held tomorrow. 会议将于明天举行。
情态动词 情态动词 + be + 过去分词 The work must be finished today. 这项工作必须今天完成。
